01.30.2010-Saturday-Day 5

"Randall"

Honeymoon 143 Janine's 335 pictures007

Complete the following for time:

33 double unders

3 rounds of: 11 squat cleans – 95# (65#), 11 pull-ups

33 burpees

3 rounds of: 11 thrusters – 95# (65#), 11 box jumps

33 wall ball shots

Today is Randy's birthday.  This spring, Randy will be with us for 1 year.  His progress can be measured in many different ways… to name just a few… his pull-ups went from ring rows to kipping, his double unders went from intermitent skips to full-on, consecutive double unders… not to mention the pounds lost and the friendships gained!  Randy is a huge part of what the RedShed Family is all about.  He is always willing to help us make the gym better.  Whatever it takes!  Just what he will be hearing while doing today's WOD… whatever it takes to get it done!  Have an awesome birthday Randy!

  1. Happy Birthday Randy!
Thanks for everything you do to make the Shed a great place to train.
A note on this one – by the time those wall balls come along, my arms were pretty much useless! I’m sure it would have been quite humerous to watch the slow finish to this one.

  7. Let me tell you about Randy. To say he is “handy” is an understatement! Everytime or anytime I needed some help with a project in the gym, Randy was there to help, or take on the project. Randy is a quality individual.
In the gym, Randy never quits and is always supportive of his fellow athletes. He is a true example of how consistent training yields improvement.
Hope you have a great birthday Randy.

  19. Janice & Scott-
Loved the (half) muffin that Pat sorta saved for me.
Was that the cranberry nut bread recipe that is posted in the paleo section?
Where did you get your ingredients?
    THANKS!

  25. Thank you Deb – training with you is quite inspiring. Great WOD today. Squat Cleans are starting to make sense. Phew.
And thankfully I finished in under 45 minutes so I am allowed to come back. I might train in my dungarees on Monday 😉
    Way to go Melanie!!!!
Thanks for the push J9 – it was much needed.

  31. Happy Birthday Randy! Sorry we missed this one.
    J9,
Yes the “muffin” was a variation on the cranberry nut bread recipe except for the following:
about 1/3 cup oil instead of 1/2 cup
about 1/3 cup agave instead of 1/2 cup
3/4 cup walnuts instead of 1/2 cup
    only a pinch of salt
about 1/2 of a 15oz. can of pumpkin
almost a tbs of cinnamin although I might use more the next time.
Sorry to hear that the whole muffin didn’t make it home. I swear it was whole when it left the shed. Janice and I have experimented with this recipe and like this one the best. We made blueberry muffins but they didn’t have as much blueberry flavor as I thought they would. The cranberries are very tart. We bought you some coconut flour today so you can experiment too. I was going to try walnut oil instead and also wanted to try separating the eggs and whipping the whites before folding them in. I think its almost more fun to experiment with the recipe then it is to eat them. Either way the muffins are the way to go with this recipe because its very wet and difficult to bake one big bread. Maybe we should’ve made Randy a birthday muffin. Maybe next year.
    Have fun.

  55. Let’s be clear on the muffin. It came home in one piece, but Janine was alseep last night when I got home, so I didn’t get a chance to tell her about it.
Because Janine really doesn’t eat muffins, paleo or not, I figured I could add a half of it to my midmorning meal, without being made out as a muffin criminal.
    So much for that!
Looking forward to making some of our own!
Scott and Janice, that was the best muffin I ever had. Thanks

    So much for that!
Looking forward to making some of our own!
Scott and Janice, that was the best muffin I ever had. Thanks
