RedShed Rest Day

Another week in the books.  Got a bit of a blast from Old Man Winter, but we survived it.  After all, we have been spoiled.  It used to snow like that A LOT when I was a kid (am I really that old!!)

Moving forward, we have a 5K in March… and some benchmarks WODs to hit as well.  Also, about a month away is the NorthEast Region Sectionals for the CF Games.  Very exciting!

Spring is around the corner, so is the mudder!  Are you in, or still on the fence??

Rest Day Assignment:  Do some research and come up with/develop your own WOD.  Take it seriously, take a look at what is out there, and come up with something with some teeth!  Name it, and email it to me.  Janine and I will review what we get, and we will post one WOD per week in April (of your stuff!).

  1. Judging by the facial expressions in these pics – they sure do look like they are loving the squat.
Rest up for the FILTHY FIFTY on Monday!
Next week also inlcudes a birthday WOD and the Airforce WOD.
    Happy Rest Day ShedHeads!

  7. Need help with my non-paleo bean/veggie burger experiment.
Can’t seem to find a way to make it all stay together in burger form, and it is frustrating me. I want to avoid the use of bread crumbs and eggs if possible.
so far this is what I have had semi-success with:
chick peas, black beans, fresh broccoli, mushrooms, garlic, asparagus and spinach processed into a paste. Then add shreddes carrot and zuchini. Roll into balls, press into patties, fry then bake. But they fall apart or just become a heated form of humus.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

  13. J9 – Nice! we are so glad you like it. BTw – my triceps are screaming today (painting yesterday wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be). Moving all week – hopefully we’ll make it in at some point.

  19. FF at 6:15 tomorrow, cant wait!
Im with DP, if grond beef doesnt work Pat, try lamb…
for real though, maybe its too much moisture from the veggies you have in there. look for a falaffal recipe add to it sparingly and try that.

  25. Kat, ran into Shelly Guider yesterday, had to laugh when she knew all about the Shed from you. Also to find out that you’re implementing burpees and hspu’s into your class warmups… awesome stuff, make em work!

  31. SvW – I ALWAYS give props in class to the Shed, Pat & J9! My students are well aware of my “addiction” to the Shed and the impression it’s made on me and my life.
I LOVE bringing little pieces of CF into class and of course it’s so fun to introduce the unknown to my students. They love the little things we do and are always wondering what’s next?! The other day I had them Broad jumping across the dojo floor…it was awesome!
Although, my student’s absolute favorite thing is when I’m groaning during warm up about about how sore I am from the Shed.

  37. Pat, do you drain the zucchini first? (place grated zucchini in a mesh strainer, sprinkle a teaspoon of salt over it. in 10 minutes, the excess juices should run out.)
Also have you considered xanthan gum as a binding agent for your recipes as an egg substitute?
