06.13.2010-Sunday-RedShed Rest Day

IMG01381
Our little girl (the original Shed Chik)  is growing up!  Starting kindergarten in the fall… Allyson will be graduating from pre-school on Friday June 18th.  Hence, we will be shutting down the shed early that day.

Now I was one of "those guys" who said "graduation from pre-school??? that is just silly!"….. but now that I am a proud father of two little girls…. it just ain't so silly anymore!!

I got throw out some recognition to a few of our athletes.

First is Marc.  Some of you may not know him, or have had the pleasure to train with him since he comes in the morning.  He gets it!  Since he came in, Marc has willed himself into the rx'd column for almost every single WOD.  He is a true inspiriation to any fence-sitter, and I think we might have converted him from globo to CrossFit!

Second is Lily, CKL and Lou…. have you seen them lately???  They are ready for summer!

Next is Melanie and Shannon.  You ladies just don't back down… AWESOME!  And McCoy is away all week for work, yet he comes home… he enters the shed as if on a mission!

I just feel like we see the fight daily… the fight against quitting, or giving up… giving in.  We see people struggle, we hear them scream, we see them bleed.  It is something that you just don't see happen down the street at "planet" or "golds"….  or maybe it does and we just don't know about it.  I am in awe of you, the CrossFit Athlete… because regardless of your "fran" time, that is WHAT YOU ARE!

Hey, I can put just about any name where theirs are… I am not leaving anyone out… (except maybe SvW and BF!!)

Enjoy the Rest Day!

  1. im not sure who this BF is you refer to but I can take it…
Im really not sure when the last time i trained was, with everything that i’ve got going on right now, i can barely remember yesterday.
Add yesterdays wod, 3×8 hang cleans, and the Rick Leonard experience to all that time off and the result is complete body soreness.
busy at work is good, but full body soreness is better in a lot of ways as far as im concerned.

  8. Sunday update for the Garrys:
Headed south on my morning adventure. Took a detour and tried the Blue Mine trail. Lots of great hills to climb. Some I made it, some I did not. At times I felt like I was climbing straight up vertical (that is my own made up term). Ended with a STEEP downhill, which I was off the bike for. Took the trail to the end at Waterloo Rd.
Was back in about an hour some made my way north.
So atleast I got in some hills, flipped nearly over the handlebars (have a new bruise on my leg as well as to my confidence), hopped some logs and curbs, saw 4 squirrels, 2 deer, 2 horses and no aroma of bacon, got barked at by a dog…but in the end, my legs got to actually do some work!
    1:24.39 but not as rx’d

  22. SVW is just preparing for the warrior dash. This is how he trains for these mud runs. He takes off long periods of time so his body is completely rested and not use to physical output then he attacks the Mt.

  29. Thanks for the shout out, Coach. I couldn’t do it without you. More than once I’ve wanted to walk away from a WOD, but your belief in me has kept me going.

  43. Thanks for the shout out. Since I started working out 3 years ago, I’ve always been interested in trying out CrossFit. Really glad that RedShed is there and that everyone is friendly. Looking forward to more. It sure is different than “globo” in so many (good) ways.
