08.22.2010-Sunday-Rest Day

Rest Day Reflection

It's your choice…

…something I learned while coaching some youngsters in a Speed & Quickness clinic.  After only 5 days, it was obvious to me who was making the right choices and who was not.  If only 5 days of great choices can reap physical and mental benefits, imagine what a month or a year can do!

I was looking for you, Janine, on Compuscore for yesterday’s 5K race but you were nowhere to be found. What’s going on with your racing?

  8. Pat great blog….it is as simple as that I always told my wrestlers the same thing it is your choice whether you want to be good or average. The choice is yours…the problem is it seems kids today want to pick the right choice but are not motivated or not willing to put in the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice associated with the “right choice.” But like my dad has always told me thats why there are few people like us willing to go the extra mile, willing to make the right choice this is what truly separates the successful from the average. The old saying: “The harder I work the luckier I get” I use to have this hanging in my room…after years of wrestling I began looking at that quote differently thinking to myself I am a product of what I trained what I created so if people think its luck so be it I like to think of it as being prepared, making the right choice and working my ass off… I would like to thank everybody at the shed for getting me back to that state of mind. The past three months I have pushed myself mentally and physically and it feels great to have that “edge” I have been missing for the past 8 years. Pat your methodology and quite intense attitude is what attracted me to the shed thanks for bringing me back to the competitive world.

That said, my first time with Annie today. 11:11
(I don’t like the rope I got. I wanna see if Pat will let me swap it for one of the blue ones at the shed.)

  43. Glad to hear that y’all enjoyed reading the blog today. And nice job to the Lakes for getting in some CF while at the beach!
The summer (especially August) is a ton of work for us, due to all the work we do with young athletes. When most people are getting summer hours, we are working longer and harder days.
With that being said, I do want to thank everyone for accepting all of our high school and college athletes who trained with me this summer. At times, it was difficult for me to be in two places at once, but we all made it work.
All in all, I think we accomplished some really great things this summer. As we move toward the end of the summer… let’s stick to it, stay focused on our goals, and learn to live with the choices we make, instead of searching for the easy way out.
We are looking to put on some very important and very cool events in the months to come. We will be counting on you to help us make them a success!
Rest up, and get ready to repeat some May WODs!!
