Rest Day Topic:Rest and Recovery. We have a lot of athletes training in the RedShed. Share some of your secrets on rest and recovery. What works best for you? What have you tried that failed? Share your experiences with us!
Sleep. sleep. sleep. (lately I wake at 3-4! not good)
I drink a ‘recovery cocktail’ every am…. 1/2 cup OJ w/glucosamine, BCAAs, 5 g. L-Glutamine, liquid Echinacea….& a tablespoon of fish oil.
Sometimes beta-alanine.

We are also seeing improvement in the double-unders…all it takes is practice. The times may be frustrating because they are slower – but the WOD is being done as rx’d. Always work toward getting closer to the rx column.
Paleo (or really any kind of “clean eating”) helps with performance. Look to make some small changes in your nutritional habits and that will result in serious improvements in your WOD.
And as BF has revealed…all he needs is CHALK and that helps with a faster WOD time (even with double-unders).

I’ve also had decent success with the Animal Pack vitamins, half the suggested dose is sufficient. (2 packs or 22 total vitamin pill in a day seems excessive to me)
Also, when buying suppliments and recovery items, i have found no better resource than http://www.vitacost.com its by far the most cost effective, literally 1/2 the price of gnc on most items.

Recovery – I don’t have a secret formula or anything but I have noticed that for me the best way to recover is to keep those muscles moving. I drive a desk for a living and sitting still for hours at a time makes my muscles freeze up like the tin man in a salt water bath. A few minutes of simple movement brings them back around…well bearable anyway.
I will be taking advantage of this rest day. I will practice some double unders and call it good today. I feel I am on the verge of a cold and I don’t want to overdo it. Maybe I can sweat out the bugs.

For me eating veggies, fruit, meat fish & nuts 97% of the time’s Paleo and seems to offset the other 3% of stuff that might otherwise melt me like the wicked witch of the west!

My rest day will consist of Yoga today to stretch out the sore muscles that I’ve missed for 3 weeks! I’m so happy the sore muscles are back! Yay! Looking forward to more restrictions lifted in the next couple of weeks so I can be back 100%!!

Everyday is different. I usually like to do something yoga,walk/run with my son and dog etc.today however JUST REST! My calves are screaming and heels at work all day! Ouch!

today’s rest day i spent working for 14 hours. then i hit the hot tub and sauna at the hotel. its tough livin out here:) im hoping to have a bunch of free time tomorrow so i an hit up an affiliate. i hear fran is on the board tomorrow, i was looking forward to Fran to see progress. guess ill have to wait a little longer.
