Your Fitness Journey:
A means to an end?
How many times have you heard someone utter the phrase, "a means to an end"?
Do you understand the meaning behind that term?
Have you ever found yourself referring to your fitness as "a means to an end"?
Geez! We hope not!
I don't believe your CrossFit Journey should ever become a means to an end.
And if it does, it is probably time to take a week or two off and
reevaluate your CrossFit intentions!
Sometimes in life, the monotony can drag us down. But I think that is why
we CrossFit. Yes, we have squatted about a million times and have
regenerated enough skin on our hands and shins to make a jacket, but where
is the monotony in the gym? Even when we repeat WODs to view measurable
results, the results are always unknown until after the work is done. Yes,
we may see the same faces and hear the same music in the gym... but there
will always be an effort or gesture that will surprise you.
The journey doesn't need to end, nor should it.
Ask yourself:
Am I growing?
Am I learning?
CrossFit is not the end-all. You are developing a level of fitness and
well-being that allows you to pursue activities other than CrossFit, and
you should! And if CrossFit is what you want to pursue, that's even
better! (I'm sure there will be plenty of competitions in the future!)
We are not the usual business model.
We program rest days for a reason.
Don't let your fitness become a means to an end!
Continue your journey!
