110626 RedShed Rest Day

Philanthropy: altruistic concern for human welfare and advancement, usually manifested by donations of money, property, or work to needy persons, by endowment of institutions of learning and hospitals, and by generosity to other socially useful purposes.

Philanthropy is something you don't hear much about these days.  We live in a time where most families and individuals are struggling to make two ends meet.  When times are tough, and people are having difficulty providing for themselves and their loved ones, it proves to be a difficult task to act in an altruistic manner.  Ask someone to do something for nothing nowadays, and you might just get the bird flipped at you…. unless you ask a ShedHead!!

In many fitness communities you will find individuals who inspire the group with monumental efforts and gestures.  Our community epitomizes that statement!

As a leader in our community, many times I ask a lot of you…. and you always provide!

A group of people got together on Saturday to volunteer their time and enthusiasm to raise money and awareness for a great cause.  Not only did we organize and lead a very challenging event, we also showed our metal as a community of altruistic individuals.

Cancer has touched many of us, and to have the opportunity to fight the good fight against it's evil proves to be very gratifying (at least it does to me!).  Hell, we watched one of our beloved athletes fall victim to cancer, only to beat it down and come back stronger than ever!  That is very inspiring!

So I send this message of "Thanks" to all who helped out yesterday!  Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation!

And to all of the athletes who took on the challenge, understand that your efforts were monumentally awesome!  Every push-up, step, squat, lunge and burpee helped provide care for those fighting cancer in our community.

The Sussex County Women's Forum is on an awesome mission, and we are proud
to be contributors!

Our message of "Thanks" goes to all who contributed their time, money, positive energy & enthusiasm.  Too many names to mention, but you all know who you are!!

Thank You & God Bless!

(We have many photos, and will be providing a photo album in the near future!)
