110703 RedShed Rest Day

 Why we love competing…

Competition Tension at the SoCal Regionals

What Does It Take to Train Like an Athlete? (courtesy of CrossFit Bartlett)

  • It takes an enormous amount of being uncomfortable.
  • It takes tons of hard work.
  • It takes tons of data collection.
  • It takes an extreme amount of dedication.
  • It takes a huge focus on your nutrition.
  • It takes mental focus.
  • It takes extreme efforts.
  • Lastly and most importantly, it takes heart.

Does any of this sound familiar?

If you train like an athlete and focus on these attributes good things will come.

Message from the coaches, to all ShedHeads!

Specific strength lifts, heavy days & and long days (CFE) are going to be sprinkled into our programming.  This is our way of ensuring that each ShedHead gets the opportunity to maximize her/his athletic potential (and eventually make the WODs suck less!!).  These are opportunities, not requirements!  More and more of us are experimenting with the competition scene, or just need more than the daily WOD.  We as coaches want to provide you with every opportunity to succeed and reach your fitness goals.  Keep an eye out for specific strength information, and cash-outs to be posted in the shed (on the whiteboard behind the squat cage).  In addition, get yourself a notebook and start taking notes.  Keep tally of how your sleep and nutrition influence your performance.

As usual, our approach is evolving as we strive to provide exceptional programming for our RedShed Community!

Yours in Fitness,

The RedShed Coaches

  9. In a moment of selfishness, I was proud to come in fourth yesterday. In a field of 14 athletes, I was the second oldest, and had a good 10 years or more on the rest of the field (with the exception of McCoy!).
I am proud of McCoy and Kat for putting themselves in a competitive environment, and not backing down from the challenges set before them.
I’m proud of Adriana & Keith for attacking the 50 double unders on Day 4.
I think it is cool that our athletes still train and hit our blog when they are on vacation.
I’m proud of our community for taking in all of our new athletes with encouraging, open arms!
Damn, I am SORE, and I still can’t straighten my arms!!
    Enjoy the rest day!

  25. After an afternoon with Sensei Matt:
I feel as though I could be a safari guide and name any wild animal that may cross my path
I could take (and pass) my pilot’s test
Or just simply find a comfortable place to chill and take down some chicken wings!!!
