Welcome back Sena (& SvW)!… and Feran made his first appearance at the RedShed!

As we approach our 1-year anniversary of RedShed CrossFit, please take some time to reflect and comment on your CrossFit experiences.  Maybe you started CrossFitting on your own, or at another affiliate, but you ended up in the shed!

Rest Day Topic:  Why do you CrossFit?  Better yet, why do you RedShed Crossfit?

Hey, we realize it is Sunday and it is actually a beautiful day today… but don't let this one slide by without any thought.  Your responses, good or bad, help us all get better!

  1. Obviously, we haven’t been at the new shed for one year, but our affiliation anniversary is quickly approaching!
For those who don’t know the timeline, here it is:
July 2008, RedShed Elite Fitness, LLC was formed. I trained people out of my truck, at their homes, at their work and in public parks.
During that summer, the RedShed was renovated into a functional strength and conditioning studio.
With clients on the road and in the shed, we applied for affiliation as a garage gym in November 2008.
    The rest is history!
As time continues to tick away, it is clear that moving the shed is a very strong possibility. We are doing our best to find space in the general area.
Our RSCF family is slowly growing, but it is growing nonetheless!
For the record, I appreciate what each of you bring to the RedShed. Sometimes I do not like referring to the shed as our business, but the reality is exactly that! It is our business, and it is based upon the development of personal relationships… with me and Janine, an amongst yourselves.
As you comment today, take time to do your homework first. I know CrossFit is great… we all know that. Tell us why it is great for you!

  6. 1. Results.
You can’t argue with the obvious. In the 11+ years that I have been a fitness professional, I have never come across a training program that delivered such dramtic improvement. If you are training regularly and making changes in your nutritional habits-then there is no doubt you will be getting stronger, faster, losing weight, improving your body composition and of course having fun while doing it all.
    2. Sense of Community.
The RedShed is successful because of all of you that walk through the doors and encourage one another, motivate one another to finish that last rep or another round. We continue to thrive because of the ShedHeads we surround ourselves with.
    3. The Littlest ShedHeads.
We are setting an important example for the next generation of CF Kids. Yesterday Ally Cat reminded me of important coaching cues when demonstrating some O-lifting…use your hips, press your arms out at the top, and Mommy, we need to get some chalk on our hands!

  11. The RedShed has been a place where I have been able to achieve my personal best in fitness and wellness. It has provided support and encouragement through Pat and Janine as our trainers, as well as through the other athletes. The camaraderie in the shed is beyond any I have experienced before. It is with the tremendous leadership that this is encouraged and fostered. These words are given without judgment with the only intention for each of us to strive for our personal best!! This is what continues to bring me back each and every day!.

  16. I used to envy those who spent an hour at the gym as part of their daily routine and got results. I never saw results and frankly, I HATED the gym and was always bored there!! All I ever saw was people flexing in the mirror! I was really bored with Spin classes too!
Why I Redshed Crossfit…I AM NEVER BORED, I see and feel results (who knew I had muscles?), the benefits are seen in other aspects of my life (face up to challenges and set goals based on them), I am always challenged, and the community led by Pat & Janine are an integral part of the success I have felt and seen in getting closer to my healthier self.

  21. Being 6 feet tall since 7th grade, I have always felt kind of embarrassed and awkward about my body. All my fitness efforts have been driven by how the exercises will help me lose weight and reshape myself to look better. CrossFit is the first thing I have ever done that was entirely about what my body can do, not how it looks. It is such an amazing liberating feeling to measure progress based on how much better I am at push-ups now, how I can kinda sorta do double unders, and how I shaved 2 minutes off my 5k time in a month – instead of staring at myself in the mirror and wondering if my thighs look less jiggly or jumping on the scale to see if I lost a pound yet. There’s something so intensely humbling about thinking my heart is going to pound out of my chest and realizing that I have another five rounds of the same to go. And there’s something so blissful about the wave of pride I feel after I make it through the workout and realize that once again my body was capable of so much more then my mind gave it credit for. I CrossFit because it is empowering for me to see my body for what it can do not how it looks, and because I am eager to see what else it can do and how it will surprise me next!
I RedShed CrossFit because I love feeling like I am part of a team of like-minded people all striving to be the best we can be in and out of the gym. I love that unique kind of evil genius Pat and Janine have to come up with 5 very different but always challenging workouts every single week. I still think I must be insane to keep coming back for that kind of punishment, but it’s a comfort knowing that there are so many others out there that are out of their minds too – and we all have the matching hoodies to prove it!
