  1. Achilles advice–anybody hurt it before? Felt my right one tweak last night doing d/us and this am can hardly walk on it.
ice, rest, stretch is the plan but thought I’d throw it out to see if anybody else had something wise to advise.
Great work everyone last night! Love Open Fridays!!
PS: this is not a complaint! 🙂

  9. Jess-I’m not an expert but the internet told me ice & rest are really all you can do for the achilles. It’s not like a muscle that stretches before it snaps. It’ll just go. So take it easy!
    Heck yes wall ball quads!

I posted an article about Achilles last Saturday I think. It was from crossfitsouthbay.com if you can’t find it. Also, check out last weeks mobility wod where Kelly goes over wod 12.3. He includes a lot of Achilles work because of the box jumps.
    Hydrate.
Be careful. My sisterinlaw just shredded hers and she’ll be out of comission for 6-9 months.

  41. McShawn, are you doing the whole AT? That’s awesome! If I had a bucket list, that might be on it.
Jess, tendons don’t have many nerves, so they don’t usually hurt when you’re injured until you have a total tear. If the pain is high up (2/3 down the shin or higher), it could just be a strained soleus, the small muscle behind the gastrocnemius connected to the achilles. I’ve hurt that running hills, and it felt like it was the tendon until I inspected it closely. Treat that like any other strained muscle. Keep training, but take it easy. No box jumps, no running. If it’s at the point that the soleus is connected to the achilles or if it’s the achilles itself, you need full rest. Don’t even do squats even if it feels ok. You don’t want a full muscle or tendon tear.

More importantly, congrats on the mus!!
Less important, can u email me? njfitmom@yahoo.com To talk about your experience with the ^%<€*^ Achilles, etc. Thx!
