  1. Hey all I was wondering if anyone incorporates any daily supplements with their training, IE. mulitvitamins, creatine, protein, etc. I usually incorporate whey protein, but when I used to work out in the regular gym I would take a NOx booster for preworkout, creatine protein, but I haven’t really had the need to take the NOx booster or creatine for Crossfit. I’m just looking for any supps that will help in muscle recovery and so forth. I understand its also what a person eats that is crucial too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  10. No sups here except the whey shakes and a couple of vitamins.
Like many other former globo-gymers, I’ve cycled through all that stuff you listed. Haven’t touched it since I started the Shed though. Figure it’s better to keep all that stuff out of my body.

  19. TC,
DP & I take multivitamins and use a protein shake post WOD that we mix with Coconut water (About Time is the brand). After doing crossfit for some time, we felt our bodies needed a little recovery help. I love it!

  28. Thanks for the responses so far. Thats the other question I had. I noticed a lot of shedheads drink the coconut water. What is the significance of coconut water?

  46. TC, I take 1 multivitamin a day and 4 fish oil tablets, which helps with the swelling and other recovery related things. If I could stomach the taste of Coconut Water, I would. Hear that it has a lot of benefits. I have dabbled in whey protein, but that’s the extent of any supplements that I have taken.

  55. TC,
You’ll also notice some of our best male athletes sport facial hair. (Whatup DP!) While I would not consider facial hair a supplement, I would say it translates to faster WODs.

  73. BOO, pistols!
    TC,
    Supplements are a personal preference…
with that said, I do believe that if you train hard (CrossFit), you will at some point need a recovery aid.
coconut water just has more natural elements to it than the sugary man-made recovery drinks.
whey helps add some protein to the mix.
fish oil aids in circulation and reduction of swelling.
I could be a wise guy and post a lmgtfy link, but I won’t.
My own personal opinion is that you can get what you need from good, natural food… but I am old and slow… and the beard ain’t making me any faster or stronger!!

  82. TC: +1 here on all the supplement advice. I also switched to the About Time brand of protein (all natural ingredients), and 1 daily multivitamin. Although I don’t think the multivitamin is even necessary. If you’re eating paleo, that should do it. I’m not sure on the coconut water. Seems a bit high in sugar, but maybe the users can testify something different…

  100. Thanks Coach for the info. I’ve been doing some research on my own I just wanted to see what people at the shed were doing and try to get some insight from them.

  109. I think that supplements aren’t necessary for most people if you’re eating right. I drink whey protein shakes because it’s tough to eat real food within 30 min of a WOD. Other than that, I just take fish oil to balance my fats from supermarket meat and nuts. On days that my protein is just fish and grass fed beef, I’ll skip the fish oil.
CFE guys just launched a supplement called 3Fu3l designed for people who average more than 1 WOD per day (games competitors and endurance athletes). It’s tough for them to eat enough and do it clean. I haven’t tried it yet, but I intend to.
