  1. Good Morning ALL,
Today is a special day for me at the SHED a year ago today I did my first WOD. I remember when I first came in and watched the regulars throwing around bar bells and doing what seemed like an impossible amount of pull-ups to me it was intimidating. When I started I couldn’t squat properly I was banded on the pull-ups and rings, power and olympic lifting was difficult , double unders just wouldn’t click and I can honestly say I was not the most confident guy. A year later all of those things I could not do are now some of my strong points. Yes, it is a lot of hard work, time, sweat and possibly a few tears but the shed makes it easier. In this next year at the shed there are a lot of things I still need to work on and skills I still need to learn and I know now it’s not a “Can I” it’s a “When I”.
Coach Pat, J9, Doug, Brielle, and Colin I would like to thank all of you for your dedication and hard work each and every one of you are truly appreciated thank you for all the help you have given and the sacrifices you make to help us. To all the Shed heads thank you for pushing me every minute of every work out every day. To all of the new members keep up all the hard work and don’t give up there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is glorious.
The Shed is a special place I have never been to a gym where the members hang out, throw parties, or even really partake in a confession. Crossfit is definitely about camaraderie but I think the shed improves on that. There are many boxes across the country but I do not think there is a place like our humble home I am proud to say REDSHED is my family.
3 Words that describe the Shed: The 3 EN’s
Endure the obstacles at the shed and in life.
Encourage others to push harder and achieve their goals
    Enjoy the results,family, and friends

  10. Justin from Vegas

Well said W. I like to drop-in to different boxes during my travels. Some may be bigger or have fancy merch shops, but I have yet to experience anything like the Shed. The first day I walked in there at least 3 people introduced themselves. I’m in Vegas this week and dropped into 2 different boxes and not one person (except the trainer) bothered to say hi.

  19. Zoinks – must be something about September and October…
All this anniversary talk and I got to thinking. When on earth is mine?
I looked back and apparently my 1st WOD as a ShedHead was 10/9/2009 (yesterday was 3 years). I attended your FGB fundraiser in late September but didn’t take the plunge until a few weeks afterwards.
The past 3 years have been amazing. I get frustrated with myself from time to time with my lack of consistency or my inability to Rx. BUT, no matter what – I’m in a WAY BETTER PLACE than I was 3 years ago. Both physically and mentally.
I am undoubtedly a better athlete, trainer, Mom, friend and wife because of the Shed. Sometimes I wonder where I would be now if it wasn’t for Pat & Janine.
    And, like I always say…added bonus…
I have made some true and real friends here. That’s not something that happens very often.
p.s. Thanks again to Elena…I still miss her.

  28. W-beautifully written. You have come a long way! Without you guys, the shed would be nothing, so thank YOU for your commitments to the shed. Like coach Pat always says – Put in Good, and expect good in return. Happy Shediversary to Mike and Kat!

  37. Wow!
That just really made my week!
I particularly like how we use “shed” in terms like Shediversary!
There is a lot I can say in response, but that would entail writing several chapters of how and why this got started, how and why it has evolved to what it is today, and how and why it will become what it will become in the future.
Doug is correct in his observances, for I do believe in Karma… and the shed is what it is because GOOD people tend to hang out and train with GOOD people!
Yes, sacrifices are made and time is invested, but that’s what you do when you believe in something the way our Coaches believe in you. In addition, we have created friendships for life!
I will take the liberty of speaking for all of our Coaches when I say “Thanks” to W, and everyone. Changing lives is a tremendous bi-product of the work we do as Coaches, and it is always great to hear your stories!
    Thanks ShedHeads!
(Rich and Marc, I apologize in advance for any spelling errors or bad grammar!)

  46. A guy came into the bar last night and we were talking. He asked me what I do to work out and when I said Crossfit he lit up. He started telling me how long he’d been doing it and his results so far. Then he started talking about the WODs and how intense they were and told me I should come by and check it out. I smiled and nodded the whole time and the one thing I was waiting for but never heard was about the people there. When I talk about the shed some of the first things I talk about are the people and the atmosphere because I can work out anywhere but I can’t find what is at the shed anywhere. Its what makes me want to go there and what I miss when I can’t get there. Just sayin’
