  1. ShedPresent!!
Facing a movement I’ve never been able to execute and completing at least ONE rep of it and being proud of myself for the effort i put forward. The Open was more of a mental competition than what I was anticipating. And now I am mentally stronger thanks to motivational coaches and inspirational effort and support from fellow ShedHeads. 🙂

  10. My biggest accomplishment has been to just be a participant in the Open. Yet again, I have challenged my mind and body to do things I never imagined! It didn’t happen without the daily support from coaches and my peeps! What fun it was to work side by side with all of you fine athletes 🙂

  28. My biggest accomplishment was learning how to pace myself, yet still get the work done and as fast as possible. CrossFit teaches you to never stop learning. I look forward to continued practice with this skill in order to gain mastery! I know that won’t happen though because the beauty of CrossFit won’t allow it ! 🙂

  37. My biggest accomplishment was not as an athlete. I watched awesome people who I coach on a regular basis fight through each one of these crazy workouts and never give up. Best part was that many of you that competed in the open would not have considered yourselves as athletes or competitors until now. Awesome stuff. Now that you all know your weaknesses (sometimes more weaknesses than strengths, me), it’s time to get back to work and become better versions of yourselves!

  46. My biggest accomplishment was overcoming the fear of starting. I am scared out of my mind every single day I cross the threshold of the Shed. I pace, use the bathroom far too many times before a WOD begins, and constantly wring my hands. I get so nervous, I forget what the movements are right before I grab the bar to do them – even after I’ve had someone show me half a dozen times. And to me, the Open was a competition for the best of the best. It was like putting that fear in overdrive. I have no idea how many beers I drank the day I decided to sign up, but I am soooo grateful I did it. I may not be the fastest, the strongest, or the role model for physical fitness, but I am getting better each day because I am a part of the shed.
Oh and deadlifting 155 lbs. a number of times and the very next week getting two t2b was pretty freaking cool!!!
P.S. Here is the recipe for the granola bars. Kristen shared it with me, so I can’t take credit for finding it… http://www.paleoporn.net/primal-granola-bars/

  55. Amraps for Aaron was so much fun, got to work out with peeps I don’t usually work out with. Today I learned that I hate pushing a metal plate along turf. And I also saw how awesome human beings really can be when they know one of their own needs help. Yeah we all love to work out and get brutalized on a Sunday in the rain…..but for someone else, we were all just there to help make his life, and that of his family, a little easier.
The Open was stressful but a lot of fun! Definitely figured out some strengths and weaknesses along the way. I got to know some of the shed heads that I didn’t really know before. It’s crazy to think about what some of us newer people are doing now that we couldn’t do a year ago.
Thank you coaches for making it such a fun supportive atmosphere for the Open!

  64. Ruthie, you are a person that I admire. You signed up and do every day what people dream of doing. Never stop believing you can and we will be there. People stop thinking they can do things and make excuses. Nobody helps those who don’t help themselves. We persevere to be all we can be. This is our world and I appreciate all who forge ahead like you Ruthie.
Chiara you are right it was a great day to be shed heads. I enjoyed each conversation I had with all of you!
This kid Arron Alonso fought for us to have our freedom and through his misfortune we tried to show him our appreciation through something we love and along the way forged friendships that bonded us and made us appreciate what he has given up. As I ran the 800 meters it poured rain and I just kept thinking that this kid would love to run in the rain. Damn it! f…..war

Damn it! f…..war
