  1. Good stuff here… (OPEX blog)
    Know Pain, Know Gain
A little saying we’ve had around since the OPT days is “Know Pain, Know Gain”. Nothing good comes easy and hard work is, well… hard. The thing about people and their behaviour is that when something is a high value to us we are willing to take the bad with the good to get the outcome we want. If something isn’t a high value, then we will bail as soon as the going gets tough. That’s why people fall off the wagon over time. But those who are consistent have a high value on the outcome they seek.
Not everyone comes to the gym to get fit. Some people workout so they have enough energy to keep up with their kids or their grandkids. Some people workout with longevity in mind. And others work out because the gym is a great place to relieve stress and reset your mind. Everyone is different and values a different outcome.
The common ground in the gym is that it is challenging. We know this. We know some pain and we also know gain. Those who are gaining the results they want are embracing the hard work it takes to get there ESPECIALLY when they see it as being in alignment with an outcome that is high value to them.
    But one thing to consider….
Everyone experiences challenge in a different way in the gym. Some people are challenged when it comes to building strength. Some find breathing to be the limiting factor. Come watch me work out and see me be challenged by workouts that make my face as red as an OPEX shirt… embarrassing, but my challenge to deal with. Others still are challenged with the idea of working out with other people around, or alone. The point here is that every single person who comes to the gym experiences challenge in their own way. The pain they know will be different from yours. The gains they seek will be sourced from their own unique WHY.

  10. Great read, CPJ. Sharing and supporting our challenges each heat is just as rewarding as experiencing our own.
Super fun morning sprint racing the false-starting Ken-Kong Nasse and the speedy Hussein Bolt. 3 old dudes pushing each other and having a good time had me feeling like a kid again. You can’t get that at a GloboGym…
