DRAGONBOAT…Just a little update….Deposit has been put down on Team RedShed boat #1, so that boat is guaranteed in. I did not put another $750 deposit down for a second boat because as of now we have only enough people to fill boat 1 and only about 8 people for another boat. we need 20 paddlers per boat. i would be ok with putting down the deposit for another boat only if enough people express interest because if the boat has to withdraw from registration, I don’t get the entire deposit back…not a chance I’m willing to take. With that said, I think it is fair that anyone who was on the boat last year has first dibs on a spot for this year. So if you paddled last year and want in, you’re good. If there are open spots on the first boat we will fill those spots with people that will best benefit the boat (certain seats on the boat require a certain size of a person and strength of the paddlers if possible…there actually is a method for this whole thing)…..keep in mind each boat also needs to have 8 women minimum. I was told that registration for the races will fill up quickly so if there is to be a Redshed boat #2, we need people to show interest or if you know anyone who would be interested then please get them on board. If we do not have enough people for boat 2 by the time registration closes or fills up, then anyone who paid but does not have a spot will obviously get their money back. I just want you know where we are at…and as of now I have 14 rowers from last year that said they are returning.
So if you are interested (whether you rowed last year or not) but haven’t expressed it, please let me know asap. I know May seems far away but it will be here before we know it and if we can get this organized sooner rather than later then that would be awesome. If you need the details if you are interested, please either see my previous post or contact me. I will need your $75 asap. It really is a great experience and a different way to use our exercise skills that we work on at the Shed! Such a fun day too!
Thanks everyone!
