Hearing the Call…
Recently, we (the shed) were approached about organizing, hosting a spring/summer outdoor competition to raise funds for Mike C and Mike W’s firehouse.
Pretty flattered, and pretty excited…
This event would take place at Fireman’s Field in Jefferson Township, and it would be very similar to what we all have experienced in Test Your Metal.
Obviously we have not taken on an event of this magnitude yet, but the successes of our previous events has us eager to accept this challenge.
With that said, and with the possibility of this being “huge”, it absolutely cannot happen without manpower. We won’t proceed unless we know for sure that we can count on our community to help organize, judge and score the event. What I mean is, this is not a competition where we will have multiple teams competing… it’s a competition that we (as a community) will be displaying our dedication to grass-roots CrossFit, our skills in developing quality WODs, our organizational skills, attention to detail and judges that will have people saying, “those judges were legit”.
With the help of some of the firemen, I do believe it will take the help from most of the shedheads for us to pull this off.
We will need 30-40 individuals who would be willing to dedicate a day or two to help with registration, set-up/break down of WODs, scoring, MC’ing, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, JUDGING!!
This will be a tremendous undertaking, but I’m confident that if we pull together, we can create something special, and help the Mikes raise a ton of money for their firehouse.
If we can count on you, fly us an email (redshedcrossfit@gmail.com) so we can add you to the list of volunteers.
Thanks!
