Last night we had our monthly Coach's Meeting, and every time we meet I am reminded how fortunate I am to be surrounded by such high quality people… yes, our coaches are intelligent, experienced and unique in their specific abilities to lead you… but most important to me is the fact that they posses integrity in their character. In my career as a fitness professional and in my dabbling outside of the industry, I have experienced working with and for those with loose threads in the fabric of human character. Those experiences have made me more aware of the type of people I want to work with and for (which is why I quit my full-time job 2 years ago and started working with Steve)… and forced me to pay special attention to what kind of leader I strive to be in my personal life and in my career as a fitness professional, business owner and business partner.
So I say "Thank You" to our RedShed Staff and Owners!!! As a team, we can and will accomplish great things!!
Next, a quick reflection on our recent FNL…
Why did we do it?
Partly in a selfish attempt to create a night where we got to play with our friends! After 7 years in the CrossFit arena, it's time for us to be able to call our own shots and create events where we can surround ourselves with like-minded people, have fun doing stuff we love, showcase our talents as coaches and athletes and spread the love that CrossFit has brought into our lives!
In my opinion, FNL was incredibly FUN, and it felt very good to compete in a non-stressful environment with all of my friends! When the outcome is based more on fulfillment and pure enjoyment, and less on winning… it's just more fun (at least it is for me!).
As summer quickly approaches, let it be known that we are considering some options to create some community events to further foster our RedShed Army! Some of the ideas are:
- a day at a rock climbing facility
- community service – trail maintenance, adopting Continental Drive
- paddle boarding & kayaking
- setting up a viewing of The CrossFit Games at the shed
Just some ideas we are throwing around to keep our RedShed Community strong!
Lastly, the benchmarks!
Just want to acknowledge the effort and hard work each of you put in. Maybe the outcomes were or weren't what you expected…
…but remember that we are all on a journey! This is a process! Keep it relative and relevant to you specifically… refrain from comparing yourself to others and focus on your individual efforts and achievements!
Thanks for listening!
