Meet Coach Mary!
I have been in the fitness industry since I was 14 years old. I began by coaching youth athletics 32 years ago. I was inspired by my father to make fitness an integral part of my life. He was a talented weightlifter. His work ethic and determination made me want to be the best athlete I could be. This passion led me to make health and fitness my career. I received my bachelor’s degree in athletic training and sports medicine. I then continued in the movement studies and exercise science department and received my master’s degree in cardiac rehabilitation. I also became certified as a personal trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine.
My favorite style of class to instruct is Olympic Weightlifting. I truly enjoy helping athletes develop more efficient techniques. It is very rewarding to see the development of skill execution improve athletic performance.
I use my fitness outside of the Shed to challenge myself. Whether it be hiking, kayaking, running, biking or obstacle course racing…I get excited to face a “test”. I also travel with equipment to train individuals with special health considerations.
Fun Fact: I had 4 daughters in 5 days less than 4 years…no twins, lol! They have kept me on my toes for almost 21 years!
Everyday fact: I can’t leave my house without telling my dog Charlie that I love her!
Mary currently coaches Olympic Lifting on Tuesdays at 7 PM and is available for 1-1 training.
