That is a funny video from several years ago… but it is still funny and actually pretty valid.
We are a special community of athletes, and even though the world outside of CrossFit may view us as a cult of elitists, I believe there is no shame in holding yourself (ourselves) to a higher standard.
With that being said, I hope not to beat a dead horse and cause your eyes to roll as I tap into this topic again…
Please always remember to sign up for your training session… it makes it easier for the coaches to mentally prepare. If you had a personal trainer, you wouldn’t just show up unannounced and expect to get a workout in, right?
Do take care of, and control your kids (we had to take stuff out of the room because it was getting destroyed).
Do pay attention to your coaches and refrain from excessive chatter when the WOD is being explained.
Do refrain from coaching your buddy… let the coaches coach.
Nobody wants to train next to a complainer… if something is bothering you, take the time to collect your thoughts and express them to Janine, Brielle, Steve and/or me so we can address your concerns and investigate solutions.
Love CrossFit like your spouse… don’t cheat, lie and be deceitful. Thrusters will always love you back, and burpees will never cheat on you!
Don’t be in such a rush… work through the CrossFit learning curve, and earn your stripes. The strength and skills will come, but you have to be willing to do the work!
Enjoy your fitness… rest effectively… eat good foods and drink lots of water.
Have fun training with your friends, because when you break it down, that’s pretty much what we do every day… and we shouldn’t lose sight of that because it’s pretty damn important.
CrossFit is unlike any other program… it is unique in many ways. It makes people better… let’s be those people!
thanks for listening!
