So many PR's! Lots of strength gains! New skills accomplished… on the road to mastery!
We see a lot of this… seems like almost weekly we are witnessing potential right before our eyes!
But what we don't see are the struggles… the tears… and the mental torment that comes when we train near the edge of the slippery slope of comparison and competition. I have been there, and done that… and honestly, I don't have any answers or magical words to use in an effort to help people avoid it. CrossFit breeds and nurtures that kind of thing…
… but RedShed does not
We celebrate success and failure alike… you can't fail unless you try, and trying takes a ton of courage because failing sucks… especially when it happens in front of your friends.
So when you miss that power clean, or you fail that front squat single… be thankful for your opportunity to attempt those lifts, for there are many in our world who do not have the gifts you have been given. It may sound corny or flaky to you, and that's cool… you just don't get it yet.
In my heart I know it to be a truth… that when you stand on our mats, lift our barbells and pull yourself up on our pull-up bars… you are not only battling physics… you are going punch for punch with your brain, and all of its baggage of ego, comparison and competition.
Thanksgiving is a day (and time of year) that fosters a lot of emotions of appreciation and gratitude… and I love it! How awesome would it be if every single day we all took 5-10min to express that appreciation and gratitude for all of our opportunities and struggles??
It's easy to say… not so easy to do (especially on a daily basis)…
Appreciation and gratitude for your gifts of mind, body and spirit
Much love to my RedShed Family on this day of gratitude!!
