I grew up in a household where we all wished each other a Merry Christmas… sent Christmas cards and such… but I never had that one relative who would send the letter of their “year in review”. I actually never knew people did that until I became an adult and expanded my circle of friends and acquaintances. I guess it’s nice to share…
Rewind one year…
I gave my notice… I gave the bird to being unhappy. I decided to focus on my pursuit of happiness and following my dreams and pursuing my passions in life. To show my daughters that anything is possible, and to love my wife, my kids and my life everyday!
The RedShed.
Rewind one year…
We only could get 5 people in a heat…
We did not have climbing ropes…
We were not using atlas stones…
Only 2 people could do muscle-ups in a WOD…
Bar muscle-ups were not an option…
Training sessions were first come, first served…
Programming was based on controlled chaos…
We didn’t have sleds…
Wall balls were to the ceiling…
We could not host competitions or large events…
No yoga…
No Pilates…
Yet, we survived…
We didn’t only survive… we grew, in numbers, strength, experience and appreciation for grass-roots CrossFit. Yes, now you have nice bathrooms, some changing rooms, a lounge and a viewing deck… But with that said, the shed has remained true to its roots… a garage gym experience!
Our Coaches…
Janine, Brielle, Doug and Colin are the best Coaches, no joke! THE—BEST, PERIOD, EXCLAMATION POINT. In this past year, it has been amazing to see how they contribute to each one of you. Every day, someone tells me how awesome our coaches are, and that’s pretty cool! Pride is a sin… but I am damn proud they are on our team. Please be sure to thank them… because a sincere “thanks” (and maybe a hug) would be an awesome Christmas gift! And Steve is a tremendous asset to the RedShed as well. His business and construction knowledge are superior, and his work ethic is awe-inspiring. RedShed 3.0, is Steve’s vision… please thank him the next time you see him.
RedShed has never been about me. It’s about an idea… a philosophy… a way of life that is just better. It’s about creating greatness in each other, one day at a time, one rep at a time. It’s about having fun and being happy, enjoying the physical abilities God gave you. What an amazing gift!
I hope you can take a moment to appreciate the magic of the Christmas Season, and its power to inspire happiness in each other.
Don’t worry about what you got, what you didn’t get or what you forgot to get. Celebrate WHAT YOU HAVE!
I know that a smile, a hug and a sincere “Merry Christmas” is all I need!! (and maybe some French Pressed coffee and gingerbread cookies too!).
Thanks for making us feel appreciated and loved this and every Holiday Season!
Merry Christmas
(and if you don’t celebrate Christmas… Happy Holidays!!)
