October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and many organizations and corporations do their share in spreading the pink… just watch any NFL game in October (pink everywhere!).
Well, I think every month is breast cancer awareness month, isn’t it? In some way, it has affected each of us enough to want to spread the pink and shed some sweat for our survivors, as well as for those we have lost. Even though the survival rate is high, the number of women diagnosed each year is staggering… and in recent times, it is much harder for some to afford the proper care or pursue avenues for testing.
In honoring our RedShed Survivors and those in our lives affected by this disease, we raised enough money and awareness to help A LOT of women in our community. How can you not get pumped about that? That is so damn AWESOME!
But “Jani-Ro” didn’t just raise $1300…, it introduce CrossFit to many new people… and more importantly, it introduced the shed to many new people who might not have ever stepped into our gym.
Can a 10:00 WOD compare to what a woman goes through when she finds out she has breast cancer?
No
But… when we all share the pain together, it hurts much less… and the healing starts quicker.
That is what I witnessed yesterday (and everyday) in the RedShed. I cannot use words to express how much you all mean to me… using words just wouldn’t be right.
Feel the fire inside, ShedHeads…
…and keep it burning!
