In the United States of America, we are notorious consumers…
Everything is better when it’s bigger, all you can eat or unlimited.
But that mentality has consequences… and there is a price to pay for not having the ability to control what is unlimited.
Take a look around at our Affiliate community… the other gyms out there charge a 2 or 3 day/week rate that is very close to (or more than) what we ask for unlimited training… oops, there’s that word again… unlimited.
Unlimited training means you can train as much as you want… and there are no disclaimers or fine-print statements that say you have to train every single day we are open just because we only offer an unlimited rate!!
Is it a lot of money?
Yes, but don’t lose sight of what you’re getting.
AND you know what else is a lot of money???
Physical Therapy visits, Chiropractor visits, and Health Insurance.
I have been a trainer/coach for a lot of years… (for more than half of Coach Doug’s life!!), and CrossFit is the only methodology I have found that works.
But with that said, it only works if you allow it to… if you can figure out how to improve and sustain your fitness. I am here to tell you, the average-Joe-CrossFitter, that you can’t accomplish that by going hard 6 days/week, and then trying to rest on day 7…
We are not professional athletes, we don’t have professional chefs preparing our meals for us, we don’t have unlimited access to time, food, money and recovery experts. No… we are average people who want to feel good every day… at least that’s the mission of our coaches, and our hopes for all of our athletes!
So, if you think you’re gonna beat Rich Froning next year… you can send me an email and tell me to shut-up! And if you think you’re going to take the Northeast Region by storm next year, go ahead and tell me to go fly a kite!!!… and keep training every day, and we will keep coaching you up!!
But… here’s my promise to you…
When you plateau, I won’t say “I told ya so”.
When your elbows start to hurt, I won’t say “I told ya so”.
When you tell me your injured, but you train anyway, and it gets worse, I won’t say “I told ya so”.
When you wake up every morning and walk to the bathroom looking like the tin man, I won’t say “I told ya so”.
Instead, I might say… “maybe you shouldn’t train today”, or “perhaps you should de-load and go L1 today”, or “go home!”
Because…
When you rest, you grow.
When you rest, you learn about your body.
When you rest, you develop self-discipline.
When you rest, you give yourself the opportunity to improve.
When you rest, you give yourself the opportunity to explore new ways to use your fitness.
We have witnessed so many of you achieve so much, and come so far from where you started. You cannot deny the transformations, the PRs, and the absolute awesomeness!! It is so gratifying for us to see, and we want nothing more than for that growth to continue!
So, as our beloved Coach Colin would say… “Figure it out!”
We want to see you healthy and happy, and sometimes the only way that’s gonna happen is if we don’t see you every single training day!!
